Public warning after dead whale washes up on Co Down coast

The National Trust has temporarily restricted access to paths to Ballymacormick Point inCo Down after a dead whale washed up on the shoreline.
The area is between Ballyholme beach and Groomsport near Bangor.
The Trust says it has temporarily restricted access to the area as the whale carcass "poses a health and safety risk".

In a post on its Strangford Lough & Ards Peninsula Facebook page, the National Trust has asked the public to follow all signage and avoid the area.
They said: "We have had to temporarily close public access to Ballymacormick Point due to the presence of a dead whale.
"As this poses a health and safety risk, please follow all signage and avoid the area. As always, dogs should be kept on leads.
"Given the difficulty of the terrain and size of the whale, this is a challenging removal process. We appreciate your understanding and support."
