A Co Down chemical free community garden is to be extended following council approval this week.
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council's (NMDDC) active and healthy community committee signed off on the extension request from the Saintfield Community Association.

A council officer said: "Following committee approval in June 2021, Saintfield Community Association has created an allotment and community garden.
"The application to extend, will enable and support people to engage in inclusive and diverse activities in their communities."
A unique aspect of the garden is its dedication to grow flowers, fruits and vegetables without any chemicals.
The council currently funds the community project with a financial grant support of £6,500 for its running costs.
The Saintfield Community Garden opened in June 2022, and has evolved into a thriving eco-system on site at the back of the community centre.
The new development will also include seating and picnic areas.
The success of the community project has provided opportunities for local residents to engage with nature, undertake horticulture activities, grow fruit and vegetables, socialise and stay physically active.
